Art & neurosciences project – part 1

Par défaut
  • For this first step in our Art project about brain, we have started with a bit of history:

Men have always been attracted by brain’s mysteries, trying to find the place of the soul in the body. In the Renaissance, scientists proved ideas, emotions and feelings were not located in the heart but in the brain.

After the discovery of a french surgeon in the 19th century, the researchers have started to try to map the brain and find the areas responsible of vision, audition, taste, smelling… Since then, the progress of medicine and science have been so fast than they allow us to study and cure the brain without taking it out of the skull.

–> the pupils have drawn the outline of their profile.

  • Then we have talked about the aspect of brain from outside.

Like a big half sponge ball with:

– 2 hemisphere

– and 4 parts

– + the cerebellum.

–> the kids have drawn and cut the shape of a brain in a matrix

  • Finally we have seen how the brain does look like inside

– Cranium

– Meninx

– Cortex (Grey Matter with neurons)

– White Matter (with fibers)

–> they have put colors on the brain with specific rules per degree to finally stick it in the bust outline.
